Big thanks to my buddy who sent me this one. Patrick Watson is a unique blend of folk, alt rock and baroque pop that paints images of tragedy in whimsical ways. This song comes from the band's appropriately titled '06 album Close to Paradise.

After hearing the song Teen Angst about a year ago, I fell in love. Then somehow along the way I completely forgot about the magic of M83, until recently. I got word that he's releasing a new album, and from what I've heard so far - it's nothing short of spectacular! Today's download is the latest from the new LP Saturdays = Youth.

I've had this one for awhile, and it's really addictive and overplayed on my iTunes so I was inspired to share it with those who haven't yet had the pleasure of Teenagers In Tokyo.  They give Australian pop some of the edge that their musical peers lack (NYPC, CSS, not that we're naming names or anything...)

Mykonos / White Winter Hymnal

Fleet Foxes, Ruiner of Worlds describes their music as baroque harmonic pop jams. I say that's fancy talk for folk pop, but their entitled to that sense of individuality because they really do stand out on the scene. I'm getting into this semi-rebirth of classic rock meets folk thing, so check it out if you're into Midlake and the like.

CPR / Dial You In

Brooklyn's I Love You Airlines serves up fuzzy guitar work and tough female vocals with a fun, aggressive energy. The first track CPR comes from the bedroom recorded EP Fairytale, which set them up for future collaborations with major producer Nick Sansano (Sonic Youth, Public Enemy). One of their latest releases, Dial You In, can be heard on the follow-up EP A New High.

Ladytron needs no introduction by now. I wasn't sure how they were going to top their last release, and I only have this new single to go on, but if it's any indication - the new album Velocifero must be fucking incredible! Keep your eyes open June 3rd.
